Character
Name: Shiki Ryougi
Fandom: Kara no Kyoukai
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Time Period: Kara no Kyoukai 5 (The Paradox Spiral)
Wing Color: Black
History:
Personality: At first glance, Shiki may seem emotionless, but in truth, is just more subtle and quieter than most people. When she does talk, She doesn't like to beat around the bush, making her a very honest (to the point of coming off as rude) and to-the-point person. Even when Mikiya would go and buy her strawberry ice cream, she'll just blatantly tells him "I hate ice cream", with no fluff or sugar coating in her words. This trait of hers causes her to sometimes rub against people the wrong way, like with Mikiya's sister Azaka, with whom she shares a bit of an argumentive friendship with.
Funnily enough, the only person she has trouble being honest to is herself, and will often try to avoid or hide her own feelings. She'll be quick to deny embarrassing statements, especially when talking to someone important or special to her. She carries a somewhat apathetic view of the world, with very little in the way of optimism or pessimism, goals and dreams, and the like. Her only really wish is to always be with Mikiya, but other than that she does not have much in mind. Because she doesn't really care, there is little she feels insecure about within herself. She isn't hard to talk to however, as this doesn't make her any less of a friendly person. She'll keep up a conversation with most anyone. Her demeanor does make her harder to approach, but once you get past that, you find a kind girl.
Shiki has a boyish way of talking and handling herself, a facade she puts up on purpose in order to remember her lost second personality. This ties back into her brash way of speaking and brutal honesty. Despite this heavy tomboy act, Shiki is still very much a girl, and doesn't mind being treated as one by those she know.
She enjoys spending time alone and walking, as well as maintaining her knives, and can especially excited when she has a new sword to put together. She enjoys tea and coffee, and has a strong dislike for ice cream. Other than that, Shiki's tastes in food aren't too picky.
Strengths: -First and for most, Shiki has the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception. Is able to see the lines of life of everything around her, and by cutting along these lines, she can kill them. There is no limit to what she can cut through, as long as she can see it. As long as it is alive, she can kill it.
-Athletic, has a fast and strong body. She was able to keep up and even overtake Lio, who was basically endowed with superhuman speed.
-Skilled with knives and swords, excels at close range combat in most cases. She was trained by her father, head of the Ryougi family, from a young age in kendo.
-Her right arm is synthetic, and made so it is harder to break than a real arm. The original was crushed by ESP waves during her fight against Asagami Fujino.
-Has a good head on her shoulders, and will always size up a situation before deciding how to act. She will never overestimate nor underestimate an opponent, in order to fight as well as she can. Even when she was against a Magus such as Araya, who lived well over a hundred years and was skilled in many different kinds of magic, including barrier magic, she sized him up well and held nothing back, winning the battle.
Weaknesses: -Has a hard time building bonds and trusting others due to her inhereit dislike of humans.
-Tends to be lazy. She does little in her spare time than lay at home in her bed.
-Easy to fluster at times. Mikiya often has no trouble teasing her about her manners and way of speech.
-While not powerless without a sharp weapon, she's significantly easier to fight. While she was in the hospital, a possessed dead body attacked her, and she was able to fend it up, but could not finish the battle until Touko had thrown her a knife to use as a weapon.
-Though she may be a capable fighter, she is still human, and as a result can easily get sick or injured.
(For the strengths and weaknesses section, feel free to include powers or special abilities if they apply.)
Samples (ALL samples must be set in Luceti-verse.)
First Person: 1. What is most important to you?
Hmm. Kokutou is, for me. I can't say I care about too much else.
2. If you had to choose between saving someone else's life and saving yours, which would you pick? Why?
I'd save someone else. He always says "No one deserves to die." So, I guess it just rubbed off onto me.
3. Do you have any regrets? If so, what are they?
When I tried to get rid of Kokutou in my life, when we were still in high school. I couldn't do it, and so I figured if I couldn't get rid of him, then I should just get rid of myself, and attempted suicide by running out in front of a car. Of course, that just sounds like a stupid idea right now, but at the time, I was desperate. If I hadn't done that, Kokutou and I could have finished school together, and SHIKI might still be alive...
4. What's the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?
Hmmmm. Kokutou still believed in me, and didn't leave me alone, even after I told him I was a murderer. That's probably the nicest thing that ever happened to me.
5. What is the most successful thing you’ve ever done?
Let's see...What do you mean? I've gone to school, I've learned sword fighting, I've killed Araya. I guess those all count as success in different ways, right?
6. So. This guy 'SHIKI'. Did he ever have, you know... manly urges?
Yeah. Not much he could do about them, though, he never took over, and my body is female. You could say it kind of sucked to be him while we were growing up.
Third Person: She didn't want to open her eyes. Everything felt wrong. Pain spread down from her shoulders across her body, as if she had taken a sharp stab to her back, and the knife continued to plunge itself deeper. There was feeling in her arms and legs, but the intensity of the pain prevented her from so much as twitching any of them. She could feel herself sitting and resting only something, but she couldn't tell what. The pain flashed again throughout her body, her eyes jolting open as she caught herself about to scream. Within her view was grass, as well as her pale legs, bare down from where her knees began all the way to her toes, everything above covered by slightly off white fabric. Her dark grey eyes squinted. Something was wrong. She didn't remember owning any sort of clothing like this, save for her white kimono, which reached down farther on her-
Another flash of pain erupted across her body. Shiki's view, as if in correlation to the sensation, flashed, bright red lines covering her legs and the ground below her. Her eyes had activated, but not through any will of her own. The pains intensity increased quickly, before dying down, her view fading and returning to normal as it did. Feeling returned to her body as the pain felt, and now, she could tell she was resting on a tree. At least, most of her back was. Right beneath her shoulders, she could feel something else touch her skin. It wasn't rough like a tree's bark, but instead, soft and sort of tickled along her skin. She closed her eyes, before lifting one of her arms. Though the pain was lingering, it was no longer a hindrance to her movement. Opening her eyes once again, she examined her left arm. There were no bruises or cuts, shrouding the sensation within her body in even more mystery. Her line of sight traveled towards her other arm, and down to the rest of her body. With no signs of physical injury as far as she could see, she couldn't understand why she was hurting so much.
No use wasting time thinking about it...
Pushing herself slowly off the ground as to not increase the pain, Shiki took in the rest of her surroundings. She was in a forest, grass and trees spreading out as far as she could see in all directions. Below, not too far from where she was now standing, she saw something red laying in the grass, recognizing it almost immediately as her jacket. Her mind began to race. Nothing was adding up right now. She was in an area unfamiliar to her, wearing clothes she was sure she did not own, with her jacket not too far away, and feeling pain that did not correlate with the undamaged condition her body was in. She walked slowly towards her jacket, careful as to not make any sudden movements. Though she couldn't see anything physically wrong with her body on the outside, the pain had her mind weary, sure that something must be wrong. She picked up her jacket, putting her arms through it carefully. Guess I should see if I can find out where I am. No sense in sticking around here.
She continued on further into the forest, determined to find out just what was going on.
